The Alexander Ramsey Historic Site occupies a parcel of land that was owned by Alexander Ramsey, Minnesota’s first territorial governor, and his heirs between 1850 and 1964. Designed by Saint Paul architect Monroe Sheire in the French Second Empire Style, it is a focal point for the Irvine Park Historic District. The Alexander Ramsey House was donated to the Minnesota Historical Society to be used as a historic house museum by Ramsey’s last surviving grandchild, Anita Ramsey Funess, in 1964. The Alexander Ramsey Historic Site is on the National Register of Historic Places. |
