James Garfield conducted his 1880 campaign from the front porch of his family home, Lawnfield. Following his assassination, his family enlarged the house to accommodate the first Presidential Library. The site currently includes the main house, Garfield’s Campaign Office, a windmill, a carriage house and gasholder, a tenant house and several outbuildings. Lawnfield is a National Historic Landmark.
