Minneapolis, Minnesota

The American Swedish Institute was formed in 1929 to celebrate and preserve Swedish culture. It is housed in the Swan Turnblad family mansion built between 1903 and 1907.

The solarium, which has been closed for several years due to structural problems and heating/cooling issues, is in the process of being fully restored. It will reopen for public use in the spring of 2005.

The American Swedish Institute is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.
